Individual Parts of the Training

This part introduces the methodology and its key principles in a concise and practical way. It will guide you through the three main steps: defining the aim, selecting the program and facilitating the reflection. You’ll understand how these steps are interconnected and how each one influences the others.

  • Learn how to prepare a course or a program that is not only engaging and interactive but also achieves the desired educational goals.
  • Apply your new knowledge by designing your own program or course.
  • Experience a range of games and activities with specific methodological objectives.
  • Our trainer will give you a behind-the-scene look at some of our courses, explaining what was planned, what happened, and why. You’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions you have.
  • Expect plenty of inspiration, both from our approach and from the experiences shared by fellow participants.

By the end of this part, you’ll have a solid understanding of how experiential learning works and where it can be applied. The following workshops will dive deeper into specific topics, but you’ll leave with immediate inspiration and practical manual that you can start using right away.

In this workshop, we’ll focus on games as the primary activity used in experiential learning. You’ll learn about “the anatomy of a game” (i.e. the essential structure that shows what a good game should have). This will equip you with the skills to select and adapt and even create your own games tailored to your specific goals.

  • Learn how to design a game that is well-paced, enjoyable for participants – and educational at the same time.
  • Experience a variety of games with different structure, rules and objectives.
  • Practice adapting games to meet the needs of specific participant groups.
  • There will be time to create a new game based on a topic that interests you.
  • We’ll also discuss the potential risks and impacts of using demanding games.

In addition to games, we’ll touch on other types of programs, such asreal-life challenges and model situations, and provide guidance on where to find existing programs that can be adapted for your use. This will equip you with the tools you need you create your own programs.

This workshop offers an intensive training in leading reflections – the process of reviewing an activity and discussing the new experience gained. You’ll learn the fundamentals of facilitation, group dynamics and various approaches to guiding groups and people.  You’ll try to manage various participant groups and lead them towards clear and specific outcomes of activities.

  • Learn how to ask the right questions to maximize the impact of your activities.
  • Practice leading reflections and gain tips on how to move guide the process effectively.
  • Discover how to choose the most appropriate type of reflection for different situations and groups.
  • Gain inspiration for various reflective techniques, beyond the typical circle discussions.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a solid understanding of how to lead reflections. While becoming a true expert takes practice, you will leave with enough skills to start applying reflection techniques in your own work right away.

In this part, we’ll focus on planning larger events and how to seamlessly combine multiple programs to create a synergic developmental effect – where 1+1=3. We’ll draw from the field of dramaturgy and build on the knowledge from previous workshops.

  • Learn about basic principles of dramaturgy and how they can be applied to planning courses.
  • Understand the importance of carefully selecting themes and goals, and gain practical skills for doing so.
  • Discover how to design a good scenario that delivers intense and meaningful experience.
  • We’ll share many real-life examples from Vacation School Lipnice’s courses including both successes and challenges.
  • You’ll have the opportunity to create the dramaturgy for your own course, tailored to your own environment, so you can use it in your future work.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll know how to use dramaturgy for your own events – whether it’s a one-hour training, a full-day workshop or even a multi-week summer camp.

The final workshop serves as a capstone experience, integrating all the knowledge and skills you’ve gained so far. Designed primarily as a self-experiential session, it provides opportunity to put everything in practice. Working in small groups, you will prepare a game based on general instructions, which will be incorporated into a larger dramaturgical unit alongside games created by other groups. You will introduce it to participants, facilitate the activity and will lead the reflection. Afterwards, you will receive detailed methodological feedback from the trainer and other participants to help you refine your approach and further your development.

  • This workshop is one comprehensive training session, focused on mastering the “craft” of experiential learning.
  • You will apply everything you’ve learned while honing your skills.
  • You will practice designing and leading a more complex program, including the reflection.
  • You will receive feedback from both your peers and the trainer, along with methodological recommendations.
  • This process will help you to grow both professionally and personally.

In this way, you will “pass your exam” (don’t be afraid, there are no tests or real exams). You will practice leading the program from A to Z and you’ll have everything to be able to use this method in your practice..
